While talking to some full-time residences in the St. Lawrence College area there was a great concern about houses being converted to house students. The homeowners do not want Calderwood Dr. to become another Aberdeen St. Those not familiar with Aberdeen St. it is the site of an unsanctioned event that use to coincide with Queen’s Homecoming. Here is a link to a partial listing of what happened in this area last year http://www.thewhig.com/ArticleDisplay.aspx?archive=true&e=1224962 . The last non-student house on this street was just sold a few years ago because it was getting to much for him. (As a side note: Even though last years party had less people, There were more arrest per 1,000 people and also there was lots of rain that day so i think it is too soon to label it a success). Another concerns is late night parties, public drunkenness, loud music late at night, etc. This is a very valid concern. If you are a resident in this area, and you have some concerns ( and that includes students) , I would like to hear from you. You can contact me via email at feedback@kingstonelection2010.com . Update – I do track where hits on my website come from. – I have noticed that i was referred to from Craigslist. Someone was asking if I am against student housing. The answer is no. The problem is in one neighbourhood is public drunkenness, and i hate to be graphic but, urination and defecation outside on other people property and loud parties way past midnight. Nobody is against having students. It is always the behaviour of a small group that ruins it. I do not believe the poster on Craiglist contacted me, so if you are concerned about what i have written, I welcome for you to contact me. Lets Talk

Do you often judge entire groups by the actions of a few members? Do you apply the same logic to different races and social groups?
My Answer . No. No and No
As for race. I am a happily married in an inter-racial marriage. I also have friends in various social groups from well to d to a friend of mine that was previously homeless for 2 years.
Now lets get to part one of the question. First a little recent history.
Aberdeen Street.. Although this area is not in my district it has been home to the famous – Aberdeen Street Party. The last non- student resident had enough of the public drunkenness of the students in the area and decided to sell his house. I believe that after a few years of escalating problems such as cars being flipped over , small boat being
burnt as well as a couch being burnt, people being passed out on your lawn as well as using their porch as a bathroom. Now lets go to present day Cualderwood. Residents in the Caulderwood area are not happy with the behaviour. I have had some residents in the area say that there are students that are being loud after midnight and urinating on their lawn. When they get approached by some residents they get told to FXXX OXX . So far we have not had the larger street party on Caulderwood. All people regardless if you are a full time or transient resident deserve to live in a peaceful environment. As for judging groups based on the actions of a few. Yes, it may seem unfair Why could we not have the students police themselves. How about having a representative for the students come and talk to me. Give me your ideas on how everyone can co-exist. Bottom line – I do not care which demographic group you belong to but some of the behaviour is unacceptable.
